We are pleased to update our families with the latest UK Government travel regulations for Amber List Countries which were confirmed by the Boarding Schools Association (BSA) on the 2nd August.
Please note the travel regulations have not changed for Green List Countries.
The testing requirement remains the same: proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to Wales & book and take a COVID-19 travel test on or before Day 2. More information is provided in the government’s quarantine and testing guidance.
Boarding school pupils aged 11-17 who are ordinarily resident in the UK, including those who are unaccompanied and those who are attending boarding schools on a child student visa or student visa, who have travelled from or through Amber List countries (and have not been in a red country in the previous 10 clear days), are exempt from the requirements to quarantine.
The testing requirement for those aged 11 to 17 Pre-departure testing and proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to Wales & book and take a COVID-19 travel test on or before Day 2 & 8.
Boarding school pupils aged 18 & above /accompanying parents would need to be vaccinated in the UK or under the UK vaccine programme to be exempt from the quarantine requirement. If you have been vaccinated in the US or most EU countries you will not need to quarantine or take a Day 8 test. You will need proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to Wales & book and take a COVID-19 travel test on or before Day 2.

We are requesting further clarification re any further changes for boarding school pupils aged 18 & above and will update further once we receive confirmation.
Please note the travel regulations have not changed for Red List Countries (or those travelling through Red List countries).
Boarding school pupils are exempt from government designated quarantine and instead are permitted to fulfil the 10 day quarantine at the Boarding School accommodation. The testing requirement also remains the same: proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to Wales & book and take a COVID-19 travel test on or before Day 2 & Day 8.

Currently only those with residency rights are permitted to travel to the UK and therefore parents cannot accompany their children to the school.
Please note that you must book test packs in advance of travel.

You will need to register and pay for test packs which will be sent to Myddelton College where staff will help to administer and send test samples.
For students travelling from an amber listed country
If you have previously booked quarantine at Myddelton College you may continue to travel to the school as planned where accommodation and an activity programme will be available in the lead up to the beginning of term.
