Tennis Academy

Myddelton College is a Tennis Academy, and works in consultation with Tennis Wales. This is a unique opportunity, we are one of the few schools in the UK which offers a tennis education as part of the curriculum. At Myddelton College, we also offer the opportunity to complete official LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Coaching badges, which can demonstrate leadership, organisation and enhance your personal statement and UCAS application.

Nurture a culture of Tennis throughout school developing competition, practice, and social activities.
Scheduled events – internal and external school competitions, open days, Road to Wimbledon and other events
Develop young leaders in school to become ambassadors and assistants to the program
Increase Tennis activity with boarders as part of their weekend activities
Encourage and incentivise free play
Lunchtime clubs to increase standards ready for school team representations
Private, group and community lessons available

Gold Tennis Programme

This programme includes:

1 lunchtime group session each week of term time
1 focus group session each week of term time
1 private individual lesson per week
Indoor group sessions in the winter
Support with goal setting
Tournament planning

Silver Tennis Programme

This programme includes:

1 lunch time group session each week of term time
1 focus group session per week
Indoor group sessions in the winter
Support with goal setting
Tournament planning
Match play practice opportunities

Bronze Tennis Programme

This programme is open to students of all ages.

1 lunch time group session each week of term time

Tennis Academy Myddelton

LTA Master Coach Level 5 – John Whitehall

For more than 25 years, John has dedicated himself to the profession of Tennis coaching, accumulating a string of notable achievements:

Recognised as an LTA Master Coach Level 5, accredited by the LTA and equipped with safeguard training, regularly updated through first aid refreshers.
Awarded the prestigious title of LTA Welsh Coach of the Year in 2022, having previously received accolades such as Performance Coach of the Year. His work with performance players earned him high commendation from the LTA.
Extensive experience working with a diverse range of players, from National Champions to absolute beginners, across all skill levels. He has been the individual coach to international players of various age groups.
John’s career has taken him to multiple venues across Europe, contributing his expertise in various roles and he remains an active participant in Tennis, proudly representing North Wales and continuing to play the sport himself.
