Myddelton College has announced an exciting new chapter in its continued growth with the launch of Myddelton-Fairholme Preparatory School from September 2026.
The new Prep School will welcome pupils from Fairholme Preparatory School in St Asaph and will be based at the Myddelton College campus in Denbigh, creating an enhanced and sustainable future for preparatory education in North Wales.
Located on Peake’s Lane in Denbigh, the Prep School will combine Fairholme’s long-established reputation for nurturing younger learners with Myddelton College’s ambitious vision for academic excellence, pastoral care and future-focused education.
Headteacher of Myddelton College, Mrs Lucy Davies, described the move as a significant milestone for the College and for independent education in the region.
She said:
“This is an exciting new chapter for Myddelton College and for preparatory education in North Wales.
Fairholme has built an outstanding reputation over many years for its warmth, strong academic foundations and supportive community, and we are incredibly proud to continue and develop that legacy through Myddelton-Fairholme Preparatory School.
As one of the region’s fastest-growing independent schools, Myddelton College remains committed to investing in high-quality education and providing children with the very best start in life.”
Mrs Davies said the College is focused on ensuring a smooth and positive transition for pupils, parents and staff, with both schools working closely together throughout the summer term.
A programme of “Together Days” and buddy activities is already underway to help children feel confident, familiar and excited ahead of joining the Myddelton campus in September.
She added:
“At a time when the independent sector faces significant pressures, we see this as a confident investment in the future.
By bringing together the strengths, expertise and shared values of both schools, Myddelton-Fairholme Preparatory School will offer an enriched educational experience while maintaining the close-knit and nurturing environment families value so highly.
We are committed to creating something genuinely distinctive for children and families across North Wales.”
Parents from both schools were informed this week, with Fairholme Preparatory School Headteacher, Mrs Elizabeth Perkins, expressing her confidence in the partnership.
She said:
“This decision has been a deeply personal one for me.
My late husband and I devoted many years to Fairholme and after his passing I remained committed to preserving everything that has made the school so special.
As I prepare for retirement, my priority has been securing the very best future for our children, staff and families.
