A-Level Results Day is a significant moment. After months of revision, examinations and waiting, students finally receive the results that mark the end of their school journey and the beginning of something new.
For some students, Results Day will be a day of celebration. For others, it may be a time to pause, consider their options and decide what comes next. There is no single path to success, and every student’s next chapter will look different.

When is A-Level Results Day 2026?
A-Level Results Day 2026 will take place on Thursday 13 August 2026.
Students will be able to collect their results from school, with further information about collection arrangements and timings shared ahead of the day.
For students who have applied to university through UCAS, their application status will also be available online. With many students accessing their results and university decisions at the same time, online systems can be busy, so do not worry if there is a delay.
The Night Before Results Day
It is completely normal to feel nervous the night before Results Day. Try to remember that there is nothing more you can do to change your exam results now.
Make sure you know when and where you need to collect your results and have access to any relevant login details, including your UCAS account if you have applied to university.
Most importantly, try to get some rest. You have already done the hard work.
When You Receive Your Results
Once you have your results, take some time to read and understand them.
If you have applied to university, you will be able to check whether your firm or insurance choice has confirmed your place.
If you achieve the results you hoped for
Congratulations! This is a fantastic achievement and a moment to celebrate.
Whether you are preparing to begin university in the UK or overseas, starting an apprenticeship, entering employment or moving on to another opportunity, you should be proud of the hard work that has brought you to this point.
If your results are unexpected
If your results are not what you were hoping for, try not to panic. There may still be several options available to you.
Your chosen university may still accept you, or you may be able to explore alternative courses and institutions through UCAS Clearing. You may also decide that a different pathway is right for you, including further study, an apprenticeship or employment.
The most important thing is to give yourself time to understand your options and ask for advice when you need it.
You Do Not Have to Have Everything Figured Out
There can be a lot of pressure surrounding Results Day, particularly when it seems as though everyone around you already knows exactly what they want to do next.
The reality is that there is no single timeline for success.
Some students will go straight to university. Others may take a gap year, begin an apprenticeship, enter employment, continue with further study or take time to explore their options.
Your next step does not have to determine your entire future. It is simply the next step.
