by Olivia Johnson, Marketing & Admin Apprentice (formerly a Myddelton College student, 2023 – 2025)
Returning to Myddelton College as a member of staff, having previously been a student, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the moment I joined the Sixth Form in 2023 to study Drama, Business, and Media BTEC, I felt part of a supportive and ambitious community that encouraged me to grow in both confidence and independence.
During my time as a student, I was proud to serve as House Captain of Alwen, helping to organise events and contribute to the wider school community. I also worked at the college’s Summer Camp, where I developed valuable skills in teamwork, organisation, and time management. These experiences, alongside my studies, helped prepare me for the next step in my journey.
After completing my studies in 2025, I was delighted to return to Myddelton College as a Marketing and Administration Apprentice, while also undertaking a Social Media for Business apprenticeship. After settling into my role, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity the college has given me and the trust they have placed in me. Every day brings new opportunities and challenges that encourage me to think creatively, build my confidence, and continue developing professionally. With one year remaining in my apprenticeship, I am excited to make the most of every opportunity and further contribute to the school community.
A key part of my role is within marketing, where I help bring the college to life through social media. By capturing real moments from across the school—through photography and video—I am able to showcase the energy, opportunities, and supportive environment that make Myddelton so special. It is incredibly rewarding to play a part in sharing an authentic insight into daily life at the college, helping prospective families see what makes the community so unique.
Alongside this, I also support the administrative team and work on reception, where I am often one of the first points of contact for students, parents, and visitors. This role highlights the welcoming and supportive atmosphere that is at the heart of the college, and has further strengthened my communication and professional skills.
My journey from student to staff member is a reflection of the opportunities available at Myddelton College. It is a place that not only supports its students during their time in school, but continues to invest in them beyond it—building confidence, encouraging ambition, and creating a community that people are proud to return to and be part of.
