Year 5 & 6 Open Day – Flying Drones through Hoops!
By Mr R Crowther
We had an encouraging turnout to our open day on Bank Holiday Monday, when potential year 5 and 6 children and their parents were invited in. An enthusiastic group of senior school students were only too happy to show off their skills using an iPad to pilot a drone. They helped the primary school children to program the drone to fly through hoops suspended from the ceiling. This proved quite tricky, but our visitors were quick to pick up how to create instructions for the drone. Prospective pupils also had the opportunity to try some hands-on science activities in our Prep School area.
We were delighted to receive very good feedback on our tour guides. We were frequently reminded that they are a credit to us, well done everyone! Thanks also go to Friends of Myddelton for making sure there was always a current parent present to talk to, something I am sure our visitors appreciated.
All in all, an excellent day and recruitment for year 5 & 6 is looking positive.
