EAL Garden Project – By Mrs J Davies

“A flower cannot blossom without sunlight, nor a garden without love” – Chinese proverb

The sun has been shining down on Myddelton College over the last few weeks, as the pre-sessional groups have begun their gardening project.

The walled garden, by the science block, has already undergone an amazing transformation with new plant pots, an herb garden and seating areas; furthermore, garden craft projects are underway, under the expert guidance of Mrs Jones, our amazing art teacher.

Our students have learnt gardening techniques, plant and herb identification, as well as a wealth of vocabulary and journal techniques.  Thank you too, to Year 7, who extended the hand of fellowship, by raising an incredible £130 with a fabulous cake and ice-lolly sale during break-time, which will enable us to buy more plants.

Also, thank you to our hard-working maintenance staff, who carried picnic benches and fixed our original water feature. This will soon be ready to view, as Mrs Graham has been filming and documenting the whole project. Get ready to be entertained!

Well done everyone.  A job well done.
